Centreware for HP Network Node Manager software extends NNM to support a wide range of both Xerox printers and Xerox multifunction devices.

Product description

Xerox Centreware for HP Network Node Manager software allows for management of Xerox devices via both SNMP traps and customized control through embedded webservers. Xerox registers three new icons in NNM: a printer icon, a multifunction device icon, and a Xerox printer agent icon. Beneath each icon representing a Xerox device that contains management software is a "Xerox printer agent" that reflects the status of the device. The agent's status is propagated up to the actual device icon via NNM propagation rules.

Instead of registering all possible events that can originate from Xerox devices in NNM, the Centreware integration registers a minimum number of events which filter SNMP traps from Xerox devices through an automatic action call to "Xrx_TrapAction.exe." Xrx_TrapAction.exe handles SNMP traps and sends cooresponding messages to the NNM alarm browser. This intermediary step is needed due to the disparity in SNMP management capability of all the Xerox devices that the Centreware integration is intended to manage.

The Centreware integration also adds NNM menu options to configure traps on selected Xerox devices or all known Xerox devices at once. The integration also includes windows standard help files to assist users in Xerox device management.
