Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) typically comprise multiple disparate applications, servers and network elements for any given business process. This diversity can make securing, monitoring and managing these services very complex. SecureSpan's role is to enforce runtime service-level security, data manipulation and integration-related policies for SOA. Services registered in Systinet 2 Registry can have policies applied to and enforced by SecureSpan and these polices can in turn be stored in Systinet 2 Registry, providing a single authoritative repository of both service interfaces and applicable policies. Once policies have been created and are being enforced, HP SOA Manager can be used to view SecureSpan service performance metrics, subscribe to and receive fault alerts and correlate data from SecureSpan with other systems to provide an overall view of the end-to-end business process.

The SecureSpan XML Networking Gateway provides policy based control mediating service interactions across message oriented middlewares, protocols, service versions and XML data formats in a scalable way. Deployed either as a hardware accelerated appliance or as gateway software, SecureSpan integrates with HP SOA Systinet to provide a high performance runtime policy enforcement point for SOA governance initiatives.
